Sofia Music Enterprises (SME) was founded in June 1991 by Dimitar Kovachev – Funky and Ivan Nestorov – Amebata. Within 30 years, the company has brought to life more than 1 000 concerts of world famous artists of various musical genres.

Highlights include artists like MADONNA, METALLICA, LENNY KRAVITZ, AEROSMITH, QUEEN, KORN, WHITESNAKE, SCORPIONS, BLACK SABBATH, MARILYN MANSON, LADY GAGA, KYLIE MINOGUE, DEEP PURPLE, DEF LEPPARD, JIMMY PAGE & ROBERT PLANT, EROS RAMAZZOTTI, CHICK COREA, TOTO, MARK KNOPFLER, IRON MAIDEN, JUDAS PRIEST, HANS ZIMMER, TIESTO, DEPECHE MODE, ELTON JOHN, BOB DYLAN, ROXETTE, STING, BRYAN ADAMS, JEAN MICHEL JARRE, PETER GABRIEL, SADE, TOM JONES, CIRQUE DU SOLEIL, SARAH BRIGHTMAN, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, DISTURBED, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, WU-TANG CLAN, ROGER WATERS’ „THE WALL“ and many others.

During these years Sofia Music Enterprises have enjoyed great success and an audience of over 2.5 million people.

Besides putting on large shows of international acts, the company has continually worked with and supported Bulgarian artists. SME along with its special department A.B.A. (Agency for Bulgarian Artists) has organized concerts and national tours in Europe and America, such as: SLAVI TRIFONOV AND KU-KU BAND, YULDUZ IBRAHIMOVA, KONTROL, ATLAS, DONI, SLENG, TE, MASTILO, SONYA VASSI, MILENA, SIGNAL, SHTURTSITE, AHAT, STAR ACADEMYS' TALANTS, THE MYSTERY OF THE BULGARIAN VOICES and many more.

Sofia Music Enterprises founded the very first clubs for live rock music in Bulgaria.

In  1995, SME opened doors to the first live music club in Sofia – FUNKY'S PUB, where the careers of many modern Bulgarian bands started. Bands like BTR, D2, and Mary Boys Band took the stage at Funky’s Pub in these seminal days for Bulgaria’s live music scene. The success and creativity of these bands has carried over to 2012 and we believe it was fueled by these early live performances at Funky’s.

In February 1998 SME opened a newer, bigger, and more attractive club – Mr. PUNCH, which enjoyed great success for many years!In August of 2004 – doors opened to FUNKY'S MUSIC HALL – at the time, the ultimate venue for live music!

Many reknowned artist have taken the stage at these clubs, and have had the time of their lives. To mention a few: BIG JOE LOUIS & HIS BLUES KINGS, NYERS, RICK DELLARATTA, TAMBU, FRANCK AMSALLEM, SASKIA LAROO BAND, CHARLELIE, JAZZ BREAKERS, MUDDY SHOES, MIKE & THE BLUE SPIRITS, HOLLY SLATER, CARE BEARS, OJ BAND, PACO DE LUCÍA, STING, AL DI MEOLA, JOHN MCLAUGHLIN, DAVID GARFIELD, MICHEL LAMBERT, TOTO, PAUL DI'ANNO and  more.

In March 2019 SME opens the largest live music club in Sofia - Music Jam. The club is a multifunctional complex with a total area of more than 1 500 sq. m in three levels, including: a cafeteria (with food and drinks), wardrobe, own ticket center and main concert venue with capacity of up to 1 000 fans. Impressive concert stage (15 х 6 m), the most modern PA & light system, a huge LED screen and luxurious dressing rooms ensure full comfort even for artists from the world’s elite. The club has hosted a number of world-renowned artists from various musical styles, such as EVERLAST, GRANDMASTER FLASH, U.D.O., STEVE HACKET, POWERWOLF, SONATA ARCTICA, SKIDROW, XZIBIT, ICE MC, MOBB DEEP, LEFTFIELD, WHIGIFIELD, NICKY SIANO, CHASE & STATUS, LAMB and others.

For a large number of years SME produced its own radio and TV show - KRECHETALO(Noisemaker), which was broadcast on the Bulgarian National Television, Bulgarian National Radio, NOVA TV, as well as on many cable networks and over national and regional radio stations.

From December 2006 to 2011 the company produced the Bulgarian format of the most popular Greek music television MAD TV, which has a huge database - more than 17 000 videos.

Sofia Music Enterprises has been privileged to have the support of numerous Bulgarian and multinational companies. Working in close cooperation with such, we have organized promotional tours and corporate events for COCA-COLA, VIVACOM, MTEL, TUBORG, ZAGORKA, ROTHMANS, STELLA ARTOIS, GLOBUL, DSK Bank and SONY ERICSSON, UBB, NESCAFE, KAMENITZA, and CHIO among others.

The company continues to work with the most qualified and prestigious companies involved in the business of providing sound and lighting support in Bulgaria and Europe, as well as with sound-recording and television studios, providing indoor and outdoor stages, pyrotechnics, projector and LED screens, modern multimedia screens, and personal music equipment. SME could not have achieved all this success without the help of its dedicated team of professionals who with decades of experience in the entertainment industry could make any project come to life.

Over the years, SME has organized some of the most prestigious music festivals in Bulgaria - MUSIC JAM and ARENA MUSIC as a series of concerts in clubs, halls and stadiums, and since 2017 - the largest rock festival in the country - HILLS OF ROCK.
